Default Rebuilt title

Can someone give me a little info about " Rebuilt title " cars? I found a very good deal on 01' M3 w 10K miles for 25K, this car i wanna get but its rebuilt title. Whats the big diff about it?

And if you were to find a car that has rebuilt title but for a good price would you buy it?

The car was salvaged or totaled in some way by an insurance company. The car has about 1/4 its resale value with a salvage or rebuilt title, so for 25k I'd tell the to go screw themselves cuz its probably worth about 10k!

mines rebuilt, drives perfect. check it out with a fine tooth comb, and use the title as a bargain point to make em drop the price. other than that its fine. just make sure the car is ok before you buy it.

Let me add to my first post, if you plan on keeping the car for awhile or resale value doesn't effect you you should be ok. But 25k seems pretty steep for that car..

The normal price on that car would be about 35K as its low on miles... i talk to the owner and the dmg was on the side of the car... i still have not seen it with my own eyes but i just wanned to get a better info about those kind of cars as i dont have any clue about this... So it should sell for about 20K if im not wrong?

Test drive it and take it to a good auto shop to look at, if he will let you. 25k seems a bit high for an M3 w/ a rebuilt title. Good luck.

There is no 'set' way to determine value of a car with a rebuilt title, obviously it should be less than a car with a good title, but how much less depends on the market for that car. Once an insurance company decides a car is damaged beyond a certain percentage of the value they total it. It doesn't mean it can't be repaired, it just means that the insurance company isn't willing to do it. If repaired properly, it can be a nice car, if done poorly, well, I think that goes without saying.. Check it out real good, hopefully they have some pictures of it when it was wrecked so you can see how extensive it was. Are they the original owner? Did they own it when it was crashed? Or are they trying to make money by putting it back together and selling it? I would probably stear clear of the latter unless I knew their history, people care more about the way things are fixed when it's theirs

No matter what, use it to negotiate if you want the car, that goes without saying.
