Escort Passport X50. Do a search comparing it to the V1.

They don't want tickets either

Me personally, none. 95% of the tickets I have received in my life have been with a radar detector, you start to trust it, don't pay attention to what is going on around you, and BAM, ticket. I do better watching traffic ahead of me than I ever did with a radar detector.......

Exactly! when I had a radar detector.. I used to just not pay attention at all, without I feel like I should actually see whos around me.

There's a review on the X50. I went through all the research last Christmas when my fiance wanted a radar detector. The X50 is waaaaaay better looking than the V1, $100-150 cheaper, and just as effective with (supposedly) fewer falses.

I read several reviews last year where someone would drive with one of each in their car and compare responses.

It seemed that both picked up radar well before you could even see the source, both pick up laser, both have falses, but the V1 has them more often.

Look at pictures of both. The X50 is available in red or blue LED. I bought the blue since the lettering on the unit is blue. (I'm female - stuff has to match!!) LOL

I'm not sure about the V1, but the X50 has a mute button. It will only mute the current radar that has been picked up. If it picks up another hit, it'll alert aloud again. And, of course, it does have volume control. It actually has a lot of features, but we've never used anything other than the above listed and switching back and forth between Auto and Highway.

I was able to find one online for $285. If you search around enough, you can get a good deal. Sorry to say that I don't remember the website that I got it from. There's a ton of eBay sellers, too, who are authorized dealers and can uphold the warranty.

I recommended the X50 earlier in the thread, but didn't have time to go into detail.

Remember - they are RADAR detectors - not COP detectors. It's of no use for anything other than speeding. You can't start driving like an idiot simply because you have a radar detector.

Is it possible you see cop cars with radar speed clocking devices?
I see no need for cops to detect radar.
I see instead a need for cops to detect speeders. -Bob
