Air has its own set of problems to contend with, but this has alot of potential.
One thing I could think of off the bat, with a timer system to bleed down air pressure based on time or switches, you could make a progressive nitrous system pretty easily that won't hammer the solenoids since the system won't open and close them rapidly, rather it will gradually open them.
