How to change your oil
Well first of all, I just don't ever drink. So it's not like I abstain from it when I work on the car. I'll usually have a half gallon of Kool-Aid mixed and in the refrigerator for when I'm done...is that better?
I don't even bother trying to keep the bolt from dropping in the oil. I have one of those drain-in type pan things, so the oil drains into the reservoir, and the plug stays on top. Quick wipe, and it's ready to go back on the car.
I used to wipe the filter gasket with oil. But since the oil inevitably gets on the filter when I'm putting it on the car, I figure it's not necessary.
Reading this reminded me to go put more fluid in for my clutch.
