Youre also on southfloridaracing.com. you guys get upset that the word is being spread around and whatnot, but how did you hear about the guy with the srt-4 and his 'innovative' oil change?
you guys remember the audi guy who tried to port and polish his engine with a bag of sand through the intake of his running engine?
i dont think this is nearly as bad. difficult to say without taking a look at it. As an ASE master tech holding a Porsche master certification, i doubt the sock did much if the engine still runs.

this isn't as bad as "The Banana in the Tailpipe" travesty a few years back
You know its bad when even the Chevy clubs are making fun of you
What is funny is how lame some of you 'experts' really are.
- fibers will damage an engine (a chunk of fabric 'might' block an oil passage, but fibers? give me a break).
- a sock wrapped around a camshaft will bend parts (say what? is this sock made of chain mail? is this shaft made of plastic?)
- turning an engine without wires connected will fry ignition (how? so BMWs fry ignition systems every time plug wires work loose?).
- a sock sucked in by the oil filler cap will not reach the camshaft (and exactly what do you think is the shaft you can see through the opening on overhead cam engines?).
What makes you sound even dumber is that many of you are arrogant, while the kid said he knew he screwed up. The kid came here asking for advice, and the majority of posters couldn't even offer anything more intelligent to say that what you'd expect from a teenage brat.
I'm happy you got it worked out dude, but you might want to find a place that is more cooperative and helpful. It's too bad 'cause there are several good posters here, but they are just drowned by a ton of crap BSers that don't know a hubcap from a steering wheel...

The irony is that this made it all the way over to www.echodrivers.com and we're still having a good (albeit economical) laugh at the sheer stupidity. I hail your utter uselessness, and have dedicated my user name to you in kind. I'm not sure, but I don't think we even have people that inept here in Canada (not even in Newfoundland for god sakes!).
