I would just make sure that your new odometer is over where that number is and nobody will know. I've never done that but i know many people that have. if you go under, when it is registered upon a sale the new title would be tmu and that could bite you in the ass.
Here in Florida dealers use the term TMU as well, however, there is nothing on the actual title that says "TMU" it is worded differently, like I posted above.

The only reason I even mentioned anything about newer cars is so that someone that didn't know any better wouldn't read this, then write 'EXEMPT' on their title for their 2003 car and try to register it. For his case, 'EXEMPT' is clearly the best and easiest thing to do.

on most analog odometers you can actuall wedge the numbers apart and roll them to the correct mileage. I would still note exempt or mileage discrepancy on the title, but so that you know the mileage is correct. I have done this when my last speedo was stolen out of my crx, luckily I had mileage records for every fuel fill up so I will atleast be close to the true mileage.

Luckily for me what I can do in my Camaro I can simply take out the odo as it is gear driven and spend hours winding it back to original mileage as it only has 75k miles.

Thanks for the help. I need to check for sure to see if I can keep it other wise, I think I'll go with the option of rolling a new one up to the existing amount so I can still keep track, even if it isn't considered "acurate."
