if it's legal but the state doesn't allow it, wouldn't that be a contradiction. like the speed limit on I75 is 70mph so you do 65mph, then the FHP gives you a ticket because they want the speed limit to be 60mph and you were speeding according to them. If the DOT, the department responsible for our roadways and restrictions of such, says it is legal then how the hell are you rightfully gonna get a ticket?

Some one should keep track of the daily "I got an exhaust ticket " threads...

thats not the same, the state sets the speed limit. if you wanna get techincal, its the same as: you can smoke wherever you want in most states. in florida you cant smoke in restaraunts. thats the first example came to mind.

right, but the federal government has already detemined that the exhaust is 50 state street legal ( assuming that this is the cert is is talking about.) so If the federal gov has reviewed all 50 states laws and determined that in all 50 states it meets the laws of each state then how is that state going to say it's illegal? the state can not over rule a decision made in a higher section of government. Yes there are some powers reserved for the states, and this is one of them, so fl has said here's our law...and the federal government has determined that these exhausts meet that law. A federal entity has basically told fl that it is a legal exhaust but fl is overturning the decision... not a wise thing to try.

i believe the dot suggest that it passes emissions in all 50 states. the state can make its own law reguarding modification.
