Wanted!
I want a good rwd with a wide track and a long wheel base. it doesn't matter v8 4cylinder doesn't matter. I have been looking at the old bmws like '84. 325i. I just want to test my skills and make it into a good handling car. I will fabricate everything on it so it doesn't matter if they make parts or don't. I WILL tube the front suspension out and run coil all around. This will have a v8 or something powerful and light like an ls2 or something of that nature. This will have a full out roll cage going through the fire wall and back into the truck area.
sooo what manufacture makes this car? I dont want to spend money on the chassis either. I can pick up an old bmw 3 series for like $400

hell you can pick up old busted cop cars for a couple hundred. the Panther line (crown vic, grand marquis, towncar) are the last vehicle to have a full frame. You can fit a big block in them, they have a upper lower a-arm front suspension, and you can lighten them to around 3200#with steel fenders. has a 114 inch wheelbase

yea this sucks. I never thought about the shock tower. It is all on how they make the chassis. The newer cars I guess cut the from off at the firewall and then continue it in the body panels. I see.... I am going to have to rethink this one.
You'd be surprised what an old Volvo can do with the right parts/setup. They call them "Bricks" for a reason... they're built like tanks. Check out an older 242. You can swap a Ford 5.0 in it and turbocharge it for plenty of fun. In fact, here's a link to a guy's webpage detailing the same swap into a wagon he set up for handling..:
