Default heat wrapping headers/header

I finally got around to heat wrap my header and install it.
I was driving through west chase, leaving my job.. I pulled up to a light and the car was smoking to hell,I thought it was on fire.. I pulled over and checked under the hood..

I read somewhere, where people soaked the wrap then install it,I didnt.. so whats the correct way?

i have heatwrap on my downpipe, it smokes @ lights as well....it doesnt burn at all theres just some smoke. I only have about 350 miles on my car but I would of think anything that wants to burn off would have within the first few miles of boosting hard/putting heat in the motor. I am using summit racing heat wrap, maybe theirs just sucks ass. I always carry a fire extinguisher just incase

I heat wrapped my downpipe and it smoked for a while. I wet it and wrapped it tight. It is suposed to smoke during the "curing" stage. I also used thin copper wire on both ends to secure it to the downpipe.

I have my LT headers on my SS wrapped.

yes your supposed to soak them before tightly wrapping it.

it works kind of like a cast. when it drys it's tight and solid.

not sure why yours was smoking though, the matieral they use is obviously fire proof.
