isn't QSL in clearwater? i thought this was TAMPA racing? not being a ass but QSL is a long haul for us eastern folks.

They're focusing on growing TF as a separate entity. TF has also done a good job of clearing out the people who cluttered TR with nonsense and has given them a place to socialize and converse on topics of more interest to them. TR is a much nicer place to visit now. TF has vast potential for growing in its own way as a regional myspace and forum for socialization. TR has done pretty well on its own through word of mouth at car meets. I know I've told quite a few people about it, though they never give me referrals for some reason .

As far as TF's shenanigans go, a lot of the TR meets had turned into meetups for general socialization rather than car chat, anyway, to whatever extent general conversation among car people can stray from cars. There's only so much to say about porting manifolds and launch techniques. I only went to the Bennigans meet once, and the focus of that meet didn't seem to be on cars to me. Because the boards are still so closely linked it's hard to tell the difference between a TR and TF meet right now other than which board it's posted on, whether the meet is in some parking lot or at a club, and the average level of drunkenness...

 

Well im just throwing this up,but most of you know of the Ronnie Setzer meet he throws,well hes not in Carrolwood,But its on a Saturday night..

Its still kinda early and hes done with probally around 930.. its automotive and if TR gets some nice cars to go there and represent.. Im pretty sure he will put our name out there also..

But then ricers will show with the burn outs and radio blasting..

 

Just goes to show there is more money in giving people who have no life in the tampa and surrounding area's a place to whore it up on the internet and get a life through that then for car enthusiests to come and share that part of their life style.

Cold_Beer - Are you saying if you owned both sites and you knew TF could be more of a money maker then TR that you would not put most of your effort in making TF grow and let TR just "hang out" and do its thing.

 

With the split w/ TF, I would think that would help the situation and weed out those that have no automotive interest. Thus leaving the ones who really want to be there. Also because of the wide range of types of cars, it would be hard to find a pre-existing show that welcomed all yrs and makes/models.
And as far as trouble makers, if a member is causing problems and it gets TR kicked out of a show, and gives us a reputation of not being wanted places, I think they should be Banned. They shouldn't be welcomed back. I don't think people like that should keep TR from trying to put together future Official TR meets or events. I know thats easier said than done but just my .02 .

i am going to have to go with what he said those meets you just named off are all TF meets IMO....

 

most of that is good in theroy, but........ Most of the kids with moms cavalier are "aspiring racers" and dont see a problem with it.. they WANT to socalize about cars, but have no useful input, so they think they can impress us like they do thier friends with burnouts and "racing" around in crowded parking lots, assuming that we'll all go, "hey cool, he's a car guy, lets talk to him". The troublemakers, if they tell anyone who they are, if they even post, IF they are even registered, would get banned, but what incentive do they have to fess up? They know we'll make another meet somewhere else, and they'll get to do this all over again.
