Default Engine building progress - a different look

Well, had some valve guide issues - so started a rebuild on my flat six... a little different animal - figured there might be some interest.

I'll post some more as I progress.

A few - the pistons (JE high quench) and the cylinders are installed together. The head studs are 135mm long and basically keep the head and case mated. Everything fits VERY precisely

Sweet! My experience working on motors has only been with inline and V-type engines. Horizontally opposed motors are just so damned alien. Keep the pics rollin' in.

Here's the long block minus induction - pretty wild and pretty flat (and low cg)

Confused. The fins on the heads make me think the motor is air-cooled but on the crank case (by the flywheel) it looks like there's a thermostat housing. Eh?

With labels...
And technically - yes Aircooled. In reality, Oil cooled. There are around 11 qts circulating at ny given time.
