Spilled battery- is it bad?
I have an Interstate deep cycle marine/rv battery to power the trolling motor on my canoe. It's about 2-3 years old. I loaned it to a friend to power a car power inverter to run his fish tank when his electricity was turned off, and while transporting it in the back of his car it tipped over and spilled at least a 1/3rd of the acid, maybe more.
Is this battery still usable? Could I buy more battery acid and refill it if it's 1/3rd to 1/2 gone?

2-3 yrs is about as long as those batteries last anyways. i'd say just give up and buy a new one. i hate playing with battery acid, it doesnt taste very good!

There's only like 1/5th of the acid gone at most. I'm going to try to track down some electrolyte, if I can't find it, I'll throw some distilled water in there. It's pretty old anyway, might be time for a new one.
you can pick up electrolyte at batteries plus for like $5. those deep cycle batteries can last a lot longer than they say. frankie's got some in the camaro that are from the mid 90's or some shit, still runnin' strong.
