The Ironys at a Mechanic Shop
Id figure id post up a story for your guys laughing enjoyment at my expense. Wella long time customer had drop his 97 Mercury Sable at our shop. His wife was driving it in the rain when she came to a stop light and the brakes didnt work. Well what does she do? She turns the car off. She now has no brakes and no power steering, runs off the road over a curb and into a tree or something.
We finalyl get around to replacing the suspenion componets and swapping out body parts this week, Thursday night, it was pretty much done minus sideview mirrors. Now we havent driven the car yet since we got it, so we had no idea about the brakes, but the felt fine when we pushed it in. my boss asked me to wash it up so it can be ready for tomorrow when we get the mirrors.
I get to pull it outta the shop, it had brakes when I first started it, but when I left off to move forward then try and reapplied, I was left with a little surprise. Pedal was really spongy and almost went down, but I still had decent braking to stop the car fine, Made the turn out, washed it up, parked it back inside and went home.
So friday comes along, I go to move it and put it on the lift to figure out what the problem is. Im pulling out and I a little brake left still, then im pulling back in, well NO BRAKES NOW!
Here I am pulling it a bay at 3 mph caught off guard. I slam it into park and turnt he car off, it finally stops after hitting a huge piece of cardboard that ws over a busted hood from another, thats laying againist a big wodden box on a furniture dolly. it taps into pretty good, knocks the box over with a bunch parts in it. Luckily no damage to the car.
The shitties part about it was, the customer was right there cause we were working on another one of his cars and saw it all.
