You arent doing anything internal, you're taking off the head, scraping it clean, putting on a headgasket, siliconing it, and putting it back together

its incredibly easy, 5 hour job max. i dont remember the exact procedure on lt1s, but its a pushrod..its probably easy as fuck.

all you do is take a picture of how everything looks.. then pull it all apart.. then look at the picture to put it back together. just make sure you have a torque wrench and the specs handy.

if youre still too scared to replace a little piece of fiber that sits between the head and block, then make a post on cz28 and offer to pay someone to do it. or ls1.com or any chevy board. guarantee they'll charge at least 300-600 less hell i think most would do it for $200 and under, probably free.

5 hour LT1 headgasket swap? Damn, that's like a world record.

hahah if I could get some time off I'd help you do it just for gas money and
cigarettes

it's really easy and, I wouldn't say SCRAPING the gasket off, because a scraper + the
block mating surface is not a good thing

How?
Didn't you just have this motor built?
Something is wrong, expect more than just a head gasket swap.

And yeah, theres probably something major wrong with it, LT1s overheat all the time.. Ive never heard of an LT1 hg just popping

You already checked your oil, right? No milkshake?

I just heard its $1300-1600 to do headgaskets on an LT1 for the typical shop

If you decide to not be lazy you could pull your heads in two hours, send them to Lloyd Elliott in VA, have a 3 angle valve job/headresurfacing and custom cam thrown in, or GM847/CC306, buy a $100-200 headgasket, arp bolts, and spend around the same amount total

But I'll look around for a good shop.
