compound buffing
i had my car painted about 6 months ago and there a little bit of orange peal dull look to it. anyone know a good shop or detailer to go to 2 have the orange peal compounded smooth to get the showroom shine? lmk thanks
... how bout you take it back to the joint that fucked up the finish in the first place? if they give you a product with orange peel, they are obligated to rectify their shoddy work. i would have complained about it before i even took delivery and paid for the services.
i hope youre not just now noticing the orange peel, cuz its not something that JUST happened recently.

i took it back once alredy and they buffed it and it looked great then for some strange reason it came back on the bumpers and everyting under the molding. dont get me wrong the paint looks good most people wouldent notice it but i gess im anal. i will not do business with this shop anymore and i just want the problum fixed.
well, you can always do it yourself too. you can just go to local body shops and ask them if they have any polishing compound that you could buy. they will probably give you a half-used jug that is sitting around. tell them that youre trying to cut down the orange peel on your car. they will most likely just Give it to you. then, you just need either a Wool pad or Foam pad, ask the body shop what they typically use to remove minor orange peel. then you need an electric buffer, the arbor to hook the pad to the buffer and then have at the car. you could do it w/ an electric drill if you wanted, but dont try to accomplish this w/ a battery drill, youll spend so much time waiting for the batteries to charge. i polished an entire supra that was severely oxidized. turned out great but took 3 days because i used a battery drill. wahtever tool you use, make sure it doesnt spin any faster than 1200rpm... an Angle grinder will NOT work, it spins too fast and will damage your paint. you can get these tools at Harbor Freight in Clearwater if you need to.

You cannot "buff out" orange peal,it needs to be sanded. All it is is splattered clear, too much air/not enough air/pressure.Whatever it was,was not right when the clear was shot, the only way to cut it down is by sanding it flat.If your talking about a dull rough area, could be shitty prep work or shitty finish work.
no, you can cut down orange peel w/ a polishing compound. ive done it before. color sanding is QUICKER, yeah. but if you get the polishing compound from a body shop, its what they use to cut down the high spots. 3M makes it, they have a tan glaze, pink glaze and a white cutting compound. i used the white stuff to remove the oxidation on my supra. it definitly removes paint, because ive seen people burn thru with just this compound before.

Bro,I won't go into it all right now.I do it 6 days a week for the last 14 years.Yes compound will remove oxidation, scratches, and so on,it will NOT remove orange peal.Alot of people think alot of stuff is orange peal that is not.
really? cuz ive seen orange peel Vastly improved with compound on a buffer.
then again, there are different severities to orange peel. i guess it just depends on how BAD the orange peel really is. there is orange peel ive seen and not felt, and then there is orange peel that i have seen AND felt. i can see what you mean about it not coming out with different degrees of orange peelnessicity.
how BAD is this orange peel in question?
