Default Its time....the LT1 needs.....

GOTCHA! you thought i was gonna say an opti didnt you! HA!
140K and the original OPTI!

actually, its time for the LT1 to get a friend to help her out...she needs a playmate...one that will let her rest when she gets bitchy, naggy, or too hungry...but still wants only the best rides and the best love....yes...

its time for the beater selection!

im looking into getting a beater car...but a decent one.
one that can drive from FL to NY reliably at any time
has to be at least a V6, not a 4 (unless its a KA24DE, or a JDM SR20DE motor)
Not an SUV
Be in an acceptable cosmetic condition, meaning...not borderline totaled, not more than one color unless its from the factory, and the interior is in such an acceptable condition that you would allow a girl to ride in it on a first date and you dont have to feel embarrased by letting her in it
Does not have to be the coolest car around, but has to be comfortable
It has to have a working audio system, working PW, PL, PS, Tilt wheel, and preferably functioning cruise control.

Looking to stick around 3000 bucks total, and go somewhere that i can get cheap monthly payments

here is my list so far of options
96-99 Ford Taurus with teh 3.0L Vulcan motor (i used to own one...and dont laugh, but it was the best car i have ever owned)
92-97 Nissan 240 (ill take a 5spd, good to learn on!)
95-98 Ford Crown Vic
93-96 Chevy caprice/classic

anyone else have any other good options?

just get a v6 maro, you can get them with lower miles for cheap

the 3.4 and 3.8 are fairly dependable motors from my experience

Get a vw GTI VR6, spank 240's all day (unless they're swapped) and get 26mpg while you do it, i loved mine, awesome gas mileage, fun little cars, people see the hatch and think its slow and then you run mid to low 14's with k&n/chip/exhaust. just my .02, those bitches can be fast.

get the caprice or the crown vic/grand marquis...we've owned both and you can't go wrong with a big,RWD,comfortable, V8......I must say we've had less problems with the Grand marquis, actually I don't think we have any problems with it...rides nice, nas power, and isn't bad on gas really.

Only problems they have are the Cam position failing apart, you will replace the fuel pump at least once in the life of the car, and the coil module going bad.

Seriously I love when these cars come into the shop, cause they are just so cake to work on.
I know somebody with a Pontiac Transport with the 3.8. That thing sees constant abuse and prolonged neglect and it just keeps on ticking along. I consider that engine to be very impressive.

I have gained a great respect for the last gen escort, and boy is the gas mileage great.
