ok nowi did a few things to my engine a few days ago and i am trying to understand what else i can do to make the engine run smoother and QUIETER.

here is a list of what i did.

change spark plugs,
change radiator fluid
oil and filter change
replaced valve cover gasket(was very careful doing this)
change battery, and battery terminals

after all this it ran better, but not too considerably.
if anyone can help let me know what else i can do?

 

well if you have a noise and running problem I'd check the cat

also where is the noise coming from? have you performed a diagnostic scan on the vehicle?

 

The valve cover gasket will have no bearing on smoothness. Did you replace the dist. cap, rotor and coil (if equipped) or the coil packs and module? Plug wires? Have you timed the car back to proper spec? Incorrect timing and weak spark really make a car run like ass and it's the problem 99% of the time.
