I almost got pulled over today on I75 ( luckily someoneelse was passing me going 85) and I realized it might be a good idea to get a radar/laser detector. I didn't need one before because I live in riverview and worked in brandon but now I have a new job in bradenton soooo.

who has what and what do you like /dislike about your detector. I need something that is reliable, detectes everything possible, and has a loud/highly visible warning ( I like to listen to my music a little loud )

also what price should I expect to pay.

plus for the V1, all you do is give em $50 for any updates they come out with, so it lasts forever, such as the pop radar update that came out a little while ago

The V1 is the best of the best. The 8500x50 is a very solid detector for the money, but if you are going to buy a radar detector, might as well save and get the best IMO. The V1 is $400 from valentine1.com. The 8500x50 is 300 at best buy, but if you know someone who works there, you can get it for $190.

summary: if you have money and want the best, get a V1. If not, find someone who works at best buy and get the 8500 for $200.

wow I didn't know anyone was going to say that!!!

try driving the hwy some time when the cops are bored.... my wife got a ticket for doing 72 in a 70, 2 miles and hour...her speedo could be off, the radar could be off, just a little variance in the radar gun and her car and that's good for 2mph.

and for responsibility....when you have gone through same courses for driving that I have ( one being at the police academy) then come talk to me about responsible driving.

i have an 8500 x50, every test i read came up with it as the best, the V-1 never wins but on Valintines web site. updates are free and it has bright leds on the cord so you can mount them anywhere and see it go off.
