Default Shipping car from Tampa to San Diego. How do I do it?

I just got hired for a summer job at UCSD in San Diego. I'm flying out at the end of June. I kinda want to have my car there, as I'll have weekends off and will want to do some exploring of socal. Anyone have any experience shipping a car such a great distance? Cost, reputable companies, etc?

I had my car shipped from Denver to Tampa when I bought it. Not sure what the price was since I had the dealership cover it. It's not exacty cheap though... There are plenty of transporters to choose from, the trick is to find one who's going from here to there in a reasonable amount of time. The salesman I dealt with put a message out on a forum specifically for car haulers and got a number of responses in just a few minutes. Most were in the range of "yeah we can pick it up in 4 weeks and have it delivered 3 weeks later..." No good. Sounds like you might be really flexible with your plans though, so I doubt you'll have trouble finding a reasonable price:timeframe ratio. If you have a friend at a dealership, check with them to see if they have access to the same forum. Otherwise Google is your buddy

I used express auto transport to ship my 240 down from New Hampshire. They were a very nice company to deal with and the only ones to call me after i placed a quote online. Price wasnt too bad should cost u around 1000 but i lucked out and only paid 195 due to a cashier entry error (= Pimp for me). Here is there site to check em out. http://www.theexpressauto.com/

I'd drive it. It's a beautiful drive. Texas gets a bit boring. I did it with a friend
from seminole to mira mesa in 38 hours straight through, sleeping in shifts.
If you didn't want to do that you could always sell your car and buy one there, perhaps
at south bay volkswagen, conveniently located on the mile of cars.
