if we're going with projects, i'd love to do something damn near identical to this. that, and i've also always wanted to restore a classic mustang.

assuming the price of the car is not part of the $40k..

start with a z06.. drop in a katech 427 c5-r motor ($20k?).. spend the rest of brakes and suspension, aero parts, etc.. A z06 will never be a supercar no matter how much money you put into it, but it sure would beat the crap out of a lot of 'supercars' around a track.



Now, if you had to include the price of the car into the $40k, I'd say fuck it
