I had a 2000 ZX2, which I guess is not much of an Escort but it does share the namesake with the rest of them. Out of the box it was not that quick but after installing a Weapon-R intake, Kamikaze header, 2.5" custom exhaust, solid transmission mounts, underdrive pullies, Gude "big bore" throttle body, and a DiabloSport chip I ended up running a best of 15.02 with a pretty lousy 60 foot.

I took a lot of shit for modifying an Escort but learn to differentiate the smack-talkers from the enthusiasts.

Anyone who even wastes their breath teasing you about your choice of vehicle is obviously insecure. So... do what you want to do.

That is a perfect example of why not to modify an escort, or why people make fun of them. With most cars after that, they tend to break the 15 sec barrier, but its your car and do what you want, just be prepared to take the shit thats gonna get handed out.

True that! If you take a POS out where there are a lot of NICE cars...your gonna get ragged. On the other side of the coin you will always find people that no matter what you have or how nice it is, they find faults in it. Suck it up and take the good with the bad.

 

you its funny because escorts never know for rag raceing but are world know for road and rally and all the stuff i find for them makes them realy fast road race autocross or rally car(escort cosworth!!)

i really hope you're not trying to tell me that escorts are great performance cars because of a $100,000+ factory backed race variant that doesn't share a single part with yours, with the exception of some of the chassis.

 

well if you do more reseach theres a escort called a rs, that is a 1.9 sohc turbo base on the ford cvh motor, and the cosworth is a road car the cosworth wrc is the 500,000 $ car your thinking of
you just got to think of this a 1991-1996 escort is the same car as the mazda 323 and most of the performance parts for those cars will work on them if you have a gt escort all the motor parts for the mazda protege and miata 1.8,1.6 motor parts will fit on
if you realy want to get pissed the 1.8 bp motor from mazda is sold to kia for the spectra and rio gt!!! i did a little reseach before picking this car and hey it was cheap!! hey what ever get people talking is cool. at lease you guys are coming back with stuff thats real answers not just its a escort.
