Car Rivalaries
Browsing thru the tech forums tonight, I sorta came to a conclusion. The Ford Vs Chevy rivalary has the most cololrful arugements and history. Its probably the oldest rivalary between cars that I can think of unless you are 50 years or older or something. For the most part they all give each other the biggest shit and ribbing all the way down the track and up the return roads. And at the end of the day they are buying each other beers and wings. Nothing like the import rivalries it seems where there is a lot of drama, looking the other when losing..etc.. I mean this in the way of like import vs import rivalary or domestic vs import as well. There are a few expections of course as always.
But to see the shit Chevy and Ford guys toss back at the each other is always sheer comedy. Anyone else at least remotely see it?

That's because most of the guys who are into Fords/Chevy's have been around for a while.
A lot of the import kids are just that, kids. Like little girls, unable to appriciate cars.
There is a difference,however. I've never seen any bias out on the autocross course. All the rivalry is in good fun and sportsmanship. There is no hate, there are no put-downs. Between all makes and models, everyone respects everyone.

I spend some time in the Ford and GM forums here, and sometimes visit various Ford and Chevy forums elsewhere. It's hard to miss. For the most part, they seem to keep it civil. It does make me wish the import vs. domestic and especially the import vs. import rivalries involved less trash talk. There's always so much smack talk and so little reason when it comes down to Mitsu vs. Subaru, Honda vs. any factory turbo car, Nissan vs. Toyota.

I've met some great Supra guys. Not the ones who "know a guy with a Supra," actual owners. The type of guys with maturity and some $$$ to build their cars.

I live for the Ford vs. Chevy rivalry. Ford guys say some of the funniest shit to me and of course it's always returned. And you're right, at the end of the day we're all hanging out with beer and wings. Hell, I'm a Chevy guy, my roommate drives a Lincoln, and my dad drives a Ford. We're all friends and I even have to help these yahoos work on their Fords half the time. You know, because Fords run like shit.
