No, raising the body makes it easier to fit larger tires under the truck. Its do that or begin to cut into the body of the truck. It also will allow for more suspension travel which if you where to be truely off roading it would come in handy. For mudding, not so much.
However larger tires will give the truck more ground clearence so it doesn't bottom out on the differentials and other underbody chassis parts. Once you bottom out you could spin those tires at 100K rpm and it still wouldn't do you any good.

If the only thing your tires have to drag thru the mud is the axle and a bit of suspension, it works out a lot better than laying frame in the mud. And you dont have to worry about getitng water/mud in your tranny/t-case

Looks like it's time for some bigger meats and a lift. A little more clearence and you would have made it through that hole.

He drives from here to the panhandle when going to and from the base so Mud Terrains would be worn out quick and too loud. And yes he is getting better tires and a lift later.
