how easy is it?
I would think it would be pretty simple on a corolla, though I have done them before so I am biased... I watched one get done once, then I did one on my own with no help and no manual if that tells you.

I did it on my old 95 tercel, which should be similar to your car. As long as you can get all of the big suspension bolts undone, you're half way there. The other half is getting the wheel nut off (and having the right socket), and prying the joint out of the trans (because its in there with an internal clip).
Took me a day, and I wasn't exactly an awesome mechanic at the time. No Haynes manual either.

Toyota are probably the easiest ones to do. Air tooks make em a cinch, I think your hardest part will be getting the cv out of the transmission itself. though many shops do cv axles for $99 which is a good deal. You will pay that much just for the axle itself.
