well for some seroius motorsport applications, a fully prepped auto is one of the best choices. We build some every now and again for the truck pull guys, and a few "street/strip" transmission, which will let you bark 3rd. and make you piss blood for a few days

i have an AOD that will shift faster than any Manual/Driver combo out there.
and with my stall/brake combo launching isn't even a contest auto is the way to go if your going to want aftermarket performance.

sorry for the highjack....so in your case manual would probally be the way to go if your staying fairly stock. (it's more fun). if your going for speed auto is were it's at just don't use a stock one get one built for your application.
