Rotary vs Piston/Rod engines
tough question...rotary's are nice cuse they have less moving parts to break down, but the power advantage with a pushrod engine is rediculous....so Martha Stewart it is.

i don't know much about rotary engines, i know back in 1975/6 amc was going to use them in (get this) a pacer. but there was problems with then engine. now with computers to make them run, rotarys have started to made a come back. only time will tell what they can do. i saw one run a 5.23 in the 1/8 the other night. but 4 out of 5 times they where pushed off the track after they did there burnout or from the tree. i believe 3 of them only got 1 run in. there was 4 or 5 of them there and they all had the same problem.
my problem with the rotary is it was originally designed as a supercharger, then wenkel realised he could put gas in it
They sound supremely obnoxious
but they do make a lot of power from VERY little displacement, enough to take big advantage of vehicle weight/weight ratios

rotary of course, fewer moving parts, lots of power potential from 80cu in of displacment. I mean seriously now what other small displacement engine do you know out there naturally aspirated that can make 345 rwhp by just making 2 induction mods (peripheral port, and a holley 650 carb) and pull a mid to high 9sec, and 10sec pass everytime with just a rollcage and a racing seat, nothing else removed, also no one said rotary's are torque monster's
