Need to interview people about the closing of Sunshine Speedway!!!
Hey all,
I am a journalism student at USF and i'm doing a story about the closing of Sunshine Speedway and how it has affected the "racing community".
I would like to interview some of you that used to go there about your past experiences there and how things have changed since the speedway has closed down.
This is for a class, not a newspaper, and I promise you racing or anything will not be put in a negative light in any way. No negative slants here. This story is more about the history of the speedway and what racers are doing now that they can no longer go there.
I can't offer money, but a free lunch and maybe a few beers (if youre of age, of course
) and I will meet you where it is convenient for you. This needs to be done within the next two weeks.

i doubt anyone on here really raced the roundie round track that got shut down. the drag strip is still open for several years.

One thing you may find interesting. I was at BMP the other day at the drag races and saw a guy wearing a shirt that said "November 20 2004, the night the lights went out at Sunshine speedway". You may find that useful in your article. I don't know anyone that races there on the circle track, but if you drive around that industrial park just west of the track (near the entrance), you'll see tons of circle track cars around there that those guys used to race there, they should be good to interview.
