scavenger hunt!!!!!

 

I like the TR shootout idea. You could run it alongside other events, have them race at a normal track night, have them auto-x at a normally scheduled event, just the cost of a dyno day. That would be fairly cheap, no worries about getting a lot of people, fun to watch and fun to talk about.

The solo1 idea sounds great. This may not be the thread for it, but I doubt you could attract enough attention on this primarily drag-oriented board. If it goes through the price would be a big issue, I couldn't afford to spend 200-300 bucks for 3 laps of a course. It's definitely something that interests me, and I think I have two or three friends who would be very interested in something along those lines. Just as long as it's one-by-one so when I spin out I don't take somebody out with me . I've never raced in anything but a straight line.

*edit* I also think drift is unnecessary, they have a lot of events and there seems to be a separate drifter crew, it's not something loved by TR in general. A lot more people appreciate dyno comps and even auto-x/road race.

 

Haha, you know what, I'd rather not be associated with "the import crowd" either. I've been out to 1320, it saddens me. If there's a domestic night, I'll go out and run the Plymouth. MOPAR power!

 

I've done some HARD-THINKING this evening, and here is what I have come-up with:

The drag racing deal is already 'dealt' with, so I won't mention that.

Drift already has enough 'issues', that I believe this one too should be left to the 'powers that be' (unless TR and DGT can work together).

Road Racing is just too expensive @ this time...about $250+ per person.

I invision 2 new events. I do not want to divulge my complete thoughts yet, but I'll provide hints.

Event 1: Pro-Solo style event. A Pro-Solo style event is one in which there are 2 'mirrored' auto-x courses. There is a 'tree' and it is started like a drag race. 2 cars line up, and compete head to head. After 1 run, you switch to the other side, and fastest run wins. This could be used in an elimination style setting as well. I have a location un mind that I will be checking out this weekend.

Event 2: Solo 1/ time attack style event. Solo 1 is basically a cross between an autocross and a road race. It involves 1 car at a time (no side by side), but involves higher speeds than Solo2 (standard auto-X). Time Attack would be a variation of this.

If it would be more than 100 a head for a road racing event, I doubt you'd get many takers. I like your alternatives.

Yeah a road course event would kick ass.... I have just the right car that is built for the road course as well as the strip and I have been dying to get in on one of the road course events at Sebring.

 

I don't mind paying that much for a road race event... In a way I would be happy it would be that much.. The last thing I want is for some of these ricer kids who can't drive worth a shit (but think they can ) smashing into my car thinking they can do 100 in a corner.

 

See this is one of the clowns I don't wish to have on the road track with us if we were to have an event...

 

Well you would have to secure the dyno event at an AWD dyno so we can show you guys what power is...
