Domestic/Import Showdown
As I suggested in the "question" thread there should be a Domestic/Import Showdown. Everyone that wants to nominate a vehicle do so with the vehicle's specs, no lying. Then poll for the top 5 domestics and top 5 imports. Have the cars judged for looks, comfort, and functionality by a panel of TR admins as judges. Everything else ie..drag race, autocross (since it will be hard to find an affordable road coarse), braking, slalom,..etc let the numbers speak for themselves. Everything is open for discussion so have at it.

As far as scoring the performance stuff. we can use the same scoring set-up that grassroots uses for their 200x challenge.
Here is a portion:
"The dynamic score from the challenge will be scored by adding the competitor's fastest drag time and their fastest autocross time together. This will give their "dynamic time"
The lowest dynamic time worth 100 points. Points for second and subsequent places are
determined by dividing the winning time by each other time, then multiplied by 100.
For example, if the winning combined dynamic time is 74.2 seconds, and second place is 75.0 seconds, the 74.2 driver receives 100 points while second place gets 98.9 points (74.2/75.0=.989 x 100 = 98.9)."
Here are some ideas for the categories:
Drag race, Autox, 1 Lap around an oval (bmp oval?), braking 80-0

I would love to participate in a combined event like this. Infact I helped setup and run 2 events just like this in the past. One of them was a drag racing + autox combination. The other was a drag racing + mini-roadcourse event. Unfortunatly my car had some technical difficulties in completing the 2nd event (damn pos alternators). I toasted an alternator at the drag strip, and the next event was at 8AM the next day and I couldn't get one in time. The scoring system is the only iffy part. We used a straight numerical addition of the times, but I think given the vastly different nature of the two races, there should be some kind of weight as suggested above.
I think its a good idea though.
EDIT: I do think subjective judging should be eliminated from the competition though. Everyone has a different opinion on what "looks" good. Lets make this more of a race, and less of a car show.

Like I said in the other thread, some people get ugly cars to be more "in your face" when you lose to them

Looks and functionality can go together. This is end the debate of having to strip the car of interior, A/C, system...etc to save weight to make it faster. We should have this contest to deterime the best all around. Also that is a good idea the 4dor had about DOT tires with no changes.

Is this for modified cars or bone stock cars?? If you do modified, the argument will still continue cuz obviously different amounts of money will be invested in each car participating. On the other hand, where are you gonna find a field of bone stock cars to race around?
