shifting questions
i know this sounds stupid but i would like this thread to be answered as productively as possible... but anyway so i never really practiced shifting "fast" before... in my case i want to keep boost at a constant as possible... my questoin is why is it that when i am shifting from 1st to 2nd my tires chirip? am i not doing something correctly? i cant really shift :fast: without having the tires chirp... i can shift semifast moderately with a quick pause inbetween shifts but i dont want that...
so do i need to like let my foot off faster on the clutch? do i need so simultaneously do things better or what? any tips...

most cars with any amount of power will chirp second, or spin.
my se-r would pretty much chirp second every shift, and on loose pavement, would spin, and grab.
you can either... deal with the chirp. it isnt really hurting anything.
or, if youare hitting the gas pretty hard after shifting, dont do it anymore.

So you don't want to chirp? That means that you're putting maximum power to the ground. If you want to stop the chirping, slip the clutch a little more when you let out.
To stay in boost as much as possible, just power shift, don't take your foot off the gas.
What III do when i am racing, or whatever, is, i leave my foot on the gas for a second while i'm pushing in the clutch, this shoots the RPM's up and when i let back off the clutch, the RPM's are right where i want them. It takes a little bit of getting used to, but i've found that this is the best way to shift, FOR ME.

youre doing everything right Jonas.....but in your case you cant stay in boost spinning so much....then it becomes a tire issue....
get some meatier stickier rubber in the back and try that....otherwise "spinnin da cut" is the only way to go fast

Keep the boost up as much as possible by shifting as quick as the trans will take it. If you are spinning tires into the higher gears just slip the clutch out a bit instead of just releasing it quickly. My car will spin all 4 radials going into 2nd gear sometimes, so I just slip the clutch out a bit on the 1-2. If you have any kind of lag on your turbo the time you lose from that little bit of wheelspin is NOTHING compared to the big numbers you will lose by shifting slow and dropping out of boost.
k well iam gonna try another drag event at track day so if anyone wants to give any pointers have at it... although i think the only way to solve this is to just keep on practicing 1-nd shifts...
the thing that worries me is that i am USED to making 1-2nd shifts and INTENTIONALLY losing traction from drifting, the thing that scares me is that shifting from 1-2nd the rear end of the car chirips and sometimes loses traction causes it to sway side to side like some bad ass dragster...
