Early 90's NSX
Alright here it goes...
I had the privilege of driving my boss's car yesterday. I have now caught a sensation I haven't had since I first drove my 7. His car is a 2004 Acura NSX. WOW
Now he has owned NSX's since they first came out in 1991(?). And he also said that he has never had a single problem with any that he owned, now of course he probably didn't own any past the 50K mile mark.
My question to the community is, what are some of the known things about early 90's NSX's that are prone to problems? And is there any specific year(s) that should be avoided?
Any help would be greatly appreciate before I begin my search, and get some more of my own research under my belt.

Also, please don't flame, I will also be conducting my own research.

be prepared for the ... "these cars are overpriced why don't you buy a mustang/supra/f-body... blah blah blah"
Just be sure to have the car thoroughly inspected. Friend of mine had a '97 NSX-T and it was an absolute blast to drive. It wasn't the fastest car in the world but as far as driving experience it was up there with some of the best I have driven (not to mention they turn heads). I also think it was '96 when they got the horsepower bump from 270-290.

+1, people will flame the "1/4 mile factor" Fact is, they handle very nice and have lots of curb appeal. My friend has a 93 with about 35k on it. Looks brand new and only has required scheduled services.

I looked into buying an old NSX earlier this year. After some research at NSX Prime, I changed my mind. Here is a link to some great information on purchasing a used NSX.

Before you just turn your head to this car, do some research on car of that price and cheaper as well. You shouldnt narrow your search down to just an nsx yet. you might be suprised...

All great pieces of advice. Yeah, I have been reading about the "transmission failure" on other sites as well. NSXPrime, what a great site. Yes I know the price range they fall into. The point is, while I realize I could buy and f-body mod it and blahblahblah point is, it still wont BE an NSX. I was looking at vipers and drive a couple of different ones and they just didn't do it for me. Great cars and all, just not for me. One thing I looked at when buying my 7 back in the day was overall curb appeal vs. performance. I was looking at three different cars, the Rx7, Supra, and M3. All have their highs and lows and for me, the Rx7 won my heart. Now, in the same price range as a older NSX I know what is available performance wise, however I don't need to be the fastest, but of course I will not be the slowest
. Just after talking with the boss about his experiences with the cars and driving one, I will give it at the least 30days. I just like checking into some of the "flaws" and I will of course not make a hasty decision, however I enjoy reading what enthusiasts and those who aren't have what they have to say about them.
Keep all the opinions coming.
Thanks!

I think its retarded that people try to compare it in the 1/4 mi. It has an engine in the back...it doesnt matter where it is so much in drag racing as it does in handling...
Anyways, they are sweet. Dunno if they are the best way to go, and personally I'd like a bit more power, but whatever. To tell you the truth, I'd rather get a Odyssey and go from there.
