Question on BOV's
Installed a Gen 1 Eclipse BOV on my Cordia Turbo. I have the BOV venting into the atmosphere. Its noticeable, but not real loud. My question is how loud are some of these aftermaket ones out there. Im just curious how loud some of them aftermarket ones are compared to a stock gen 1 BOV venting into the atmosphere.
thanks,
thanks,

I don't know about any generations or whatnot, but the sound has alot to do with the design of the BOV itself and the amount of air it has rushing out of it. The Tial I have is just a loud woosh of air as it vents 360 degrees to the atmosphere with no weird whistles or squeaks.
A BOV that has a vent shaped like a horn, for example will be very loud. I have friend that has two on his Corvette and the venting portion is round with four holes in it. It produces more of whish sound.

Even if you recirc the blow-off you will get somewhat of a noise depending on the maker. Bosch bypass valves sound like a quiet sneeze, very similar to the BOV noises from Grand Tourismo 3. Many cars won't run correctly unless you recirc the BOV (some MAF cars are cranky with BOV's venting to atmosphere), so this may be something to take into consideration.
