Here are some tips.

You get what you pay for:
A maaco $300 paint job is worth just that $300. IT won;t last long, and you probably won't be happy. Orange peel, ripples, maybe even drips.

Most reputable shops charge close to $2k to completely repaint a car (same color). A color change can run around $3k.

Where should I go?
this is totally up to you. There are alot of body shops around. It's best to visit many shops, and check out their work. There are 5 main things that I would look at.
1. Is the work enviorment orderly? Is there space to move around?
2. What does the end product look like? Check out a few cars that they've painted. A good shop will never turn out a bad car. (example: A good shop ONLY does quality work. If you see a car that looks "questionable" and the shop tells you that "the owner only paid $500, so he got a $500 paint job", don't take that as an excuse.)
3. Do they offer a Gaurantee? Do they stand behind there work?
4. Do they have a proper spray booth?
5. Do you feel comfortable with this shop?

You may also want ot check with the BBB. They will let you know if a shop is honest.

either way....expect to spend some $$$. It's not cheap.

Bedrock Auto Body on Nebraska. I've had work done by them on 2 diff cars and it came out perfect. They aren't the cheapest around...but as the adage goes - you get what you pay for.

I would highly suggest to anyone to stay away from Airport Body shop located near Mastro Subaru in Tampa. The drivers side seat belt on my STi wasn't toqued down and came undone two days after I picked the car up. The passenger side was hand tight when I inspected it after the drivers side came undone. The shop just didn't pay any attention to detail and left tons of little things wrong. I ditched the car off on a trade-in a week after picking it up from the body shop.

Updated September 2008:

Had a friend take his car to Mirek's to pull out some dents and respray a quarter panel. The quality of the work and customer service has dropped to a level where I can't recommend the shop.

Original Post March 2005:

I had three cars sprayed at Mirek's European (813-891-9118 ) in Oldsmar and have been extremely happy with the results!

Work performed:

Replaced bumpers, repaired dings and fixed damaged body panels. The paint was blended to match the OEM color for a Black 96 Accord, White 99 GS-R, and Silver 02 GTI.

I recently sent my father's I30 over to have some door damage repaired and results were excellent!

His prices are reasonable (not cheap but not Gene Perez) and the quality is top notch.

I believe he only uses Glasurit paint, which is a high quality product.
