1994 Eclipse HELP ASAP
I posted in Mitsu Tech as well, but need this running ASAP! Thanks all!
Got a 1994 Eclipse GS 1.8L SOHC 4G37 engine (hey, it was a trade for my '88 Cougar...lol). When you go to start the car, the starter and ignition TRY to turn over, but the car won't kick into that final stage to start. Timing belt, balancer belt, oil, radiator, water pump, starter, and fuses have all been checked. All belts are turning and no electrical problems. And yes, the electronic starter chip is in it!
Just put gas into the car, we thought that might be the problem if the gas gauge is broken. Put in about 2.5 gallons in, thought that should be enough to start it. No leaks anywhere (water, oil, or gas).
Car only has 131k on it, and I need it working asap (deliver pizzas). My 2G Mirage took a shit (auto tranny w/o reverse or neutral, and neutral is now 1st gear?!?
Any help on getting this working would be of massive thanks. Please let me know what to do!

the transmission on the mirage, could it have been the gear selecter module?
i worked on a car where the shifter line was bolted on the wrong hole on the gear selecter on the transmission, it fixed it after i put it back on the correct spot

Check for spark. Pull a wire off a plug and set it on something metal. Then have someone crank the car and see if theres a spark. If so, move onto fuel. Does the car just keep turning over or what? Flooded possibly? Have you tried push starting it (assuming its a manual)?
Nah, the plates on the mirage froze up (or so I've been told) and thta is why neutral is 1st gear and there is no reverse or manual.
As far as the Eclipse goes, there IS spark, it is an auto, and the only thing I haven't tried is the fuel pump. It just keep turning over and doesn't "kick" in.
I will most likely be selling the Eclipse so I can have cash to buy a new car at a "Buy here Pay here" place, as I have very little money and not a lot of credit. If I sell the Eclipse and then take that cash and try trading in the Mirage, I think it will be enough for a down payment to finance. Look for it in car sale if you are interested in it.
