well thats cuz they dont run it "threw" a core... they run it through the core. and they ARE talking about a separate cooling system. they arent talking about running the engine coolant thru the system... that is just retarded. that literally would be an inter-heater.

its a larger body of cooling media that has a higher capcity for heat... like a kiddie pool full of water will take an afternoon to become 85* but a fullsize 100,000 gallon pool will take days to heat up to 85*. plus, i would say that liquid has a higher thermal conductivty, if thats the right term. it will absorb more heat in less time than air will since it is denser and has more molecules to remove the heat.

It sounds like he's just running the A/C and that the cooled air from the evaporator blows through the heater core- then he runs his IC coolant through the heater core so that the air cooled by the AC cools the coolant flowing through the heater. I don't think it's the most practical setup, but it is nifty.
