Isn't it true that pulling your credit report damages your beacon score? Or does that only happen when a prospective creditor pulls your report?

Inquiries do not hurt your score.....a full hardcore pull will lower it slightly. So you don't want to run it too too many times.

Make sure you find out if whatever loan you go with is a simple interest loan and if there are any pre payment penalties. If it is a simple interest loan and you are at all worried about possibly not being able to make a payment then go with the longer term/lower payment. Say you get the car loan and it comes to 360/mo for 60 months, say they are also offering you 300/mo for 72 months at the same interest rate. Take the 72 month loan but pay 360 on it each month. That way you will end up paying it off quicker, save on interest, but if you have a rough month you are only locked into the $300 payment

Yep, if you can explain why they are there.....most places are willing to overlook them.

They generally give you 30 days to have as many lenders pull your score as necessary, and count it as one pull. This is for people buying homes and cars.

This is correct

My next question is how to get something removed from my credit report. Jenny (the infamous ex) put my name on her Gap credit card account a few years ago, and the last time I pulled my credit report back in March it showed up. I told her to take me off, and somehow I doubt she did this. So how would I get this off my report?

Sorry to hijack your thread Miles. If you want to take a closer look at a 5-speed xB (not sure how hard they are to find, most were automatics when I was looking) just shoot me a PM.
