automotive classes...
Looking for a day time/weekend automotive class part time. Just want to learn how to work on cars on a higher level and to be able to tackle problems w/o being a complete dumbass.
For Erwin tech on hillsborough? I believe their class times are 8AM to 2PM, like 2 hours+ spent in the classroom in the morning, then hands on work in the garage until 2PM. They do financial aid to help you get all the tools you'll be needing, and I think its like $600ish worth of craftsmen stuff if you get the tools through them.
The Diesel Institute place has a mechanics school too I think....never been there though.

. They don't say: "Dsms making regular people mechanics since 1989", for no reason.

Seriously, with the help of my friends and vfaq.com, I went from not knowing how to change spark plugs, or oil, to stripping my car down pretty much to a bare shell and putting it back together again. The only things I haven't done at this point are building a bottom end and rebuilding a tranny, though I have a spare block sitting around waiting for some excess cash so I can rebuild it- the tranny is going to lancerman because I'm not so proud that I'd prefer a first-timer's grind job rebuild to his smooth expert rebuild. You have to shift pretty frequently, it's something I want to be perfect.
i went to Marchman Vo-tec the last 2 years for auto body tech, they also have a auto mechanics class. the teachers there are really nice and willing to sit there to teach you something.
I just graduated and now i got a lil job at the local oldsmobile/buick/mazda/goodwrench auto body shop.

Yeah, I'm going to SCTI next year for the auto mechanics class, my teacher is the shizznit
