Here is the deal. I am thousands of miles away from home, so you guys are pretty much my only option for advice. Nothing is wrong with that of course, I just thought you all should know. Anyway, in the past 11 months I have been saving quite a bit of money. Just checked my account... $16000. I should be at $20k before I come home. I do not know what to buy. I have gone through car to car. I have found mad crazy deals. Right now I am looking at a 2002 Mitsu Eclipse with only 44k miles. The determining factor is the miles, but I am also thinking about building my own. I cannot decide what to do. Go with an immaculate car, or build a monster. So to help me decide I need to know something. What is the ballpark price to buy a CRX, swap in a B18, build the bottom end, and pay for labor. I know I could probally spend some time figuring it out on my own, but I am sure a few of you have done this already. Are there any downsides to doing a motor swap such as low engine life? I know I can spend this money and get something wicked, but I also want a new car to build. ANy advice would be greatly accepted on how I should empty my wallet. 2) dont waste that money on a honda no offense honda guys but you KNOW he can get a better car with that much money.

 

invest that money so your making money.. Develop a portfolio of investments and let it build up..
If i had 20 thousand in the bank i sure as hell wouldnt go out and use it all on a car. When i was 19 yeah i did... i dont regret it.. but the monetary amount i would have gained if i stayed driving a 6-8 thousand dollar car would have been around 50,000 dollars. Course i learned so much about cars and had a lot of fun so its cool...

So why not use 1/2 for a car and invest the rest... You can probably make 10-13% gains and take out a loan to finance 1/2 the car at 6% if your credit is good... There are lots of little things like this and ways of using your money to have nice things and still have money in your pocket...

Yeah well, I will always be making money, and I will only have to pay for insurance if I pay for the car all at once. I was thinking of a CRX with a B-18 swap, or an INtegra GS with a GSR head. So much has been going through my mind, but I still don't know. Are there any good shops that can do swaps in Tampa? I don't know much about them but what I am hearing is that the shops can order the engines so all I gotta do is bring the car with some extra cash. Any people run into bad things with the 2nd gen Eclipse?

I know you can make it one. And by monster I do not mean a loud heavy car. I mean a very fast car that eats shit up on the track. So far from what I have seen CRX has taken alot of wins.
