Exclamation I say the import era is over!

"Kids" in 5-10 years will be building Hemi's, LS2's, LS7's and of course for the budget minded... what ever motor the SRT-4 has... I forget.

The SRT-6 and SRT-8 is coming out soon and the 300's are selling like hotcakes. Next year the bitch is coming out with an AWD option!

Now I ask you, what import under 40K even compares? What are your thoughts?

And do not bring up the sorry ass 350 Z either. Pitiful performace for the money and even those that have TT'd theirs are lucky to be runnin' 12's.... LOVE the look but weak!!!!

I wouldn't say the import era is over, I'd say they are taking a back seat right now. If they would sell a turbocharged RWD car under 25k, it would sell like hotcakes right now, what with all the drifters. Just my opinion from someone who rides the fence
Holy crap, John

Id love to compare quotes from 3 years ago to todays quote(then again, i may have ahcnaged a bit from my first days on here ) LOL

I actually agree with John. The import manufactures are to blame for this.

i love my 350z, i wouldnt sell it for anything, the looks are great and performace isnt bad, i have been to the track and have beatin evo's and have kept up with my friends wrx...

one thing i hate is how exspensive mods are for my car and most newer imports!

i honestly do not think imports are dying out, there have been alot of cars that have came out in the last couple of years and there are more to come in the next few years!

Ofcourse you wouldn't, you're what, like 17? Most kids your age are happy to be driving their mom's Accord.

YOu wont be close to the 12 flat. you will be lucky if you get 12.9. Leon at N20 before he had his turbo set up. It wasnt that fast at the track.

Forgotten about European cars?
I can get an Esprit V8 Turbo for 35 ish, and a few mods later...
or perhaps an 00' M5, already 400hp, Dinan or Schnitzer helps too
an 01 M3 for under 38k...
But I choose not to get a fast import car under 40k.

I think if you consider the market as world wide, imports will not be going anywhere soon.

though i do notice more suv's and trucks on the road lately, i think that trend will change as well. Gas $$$'s aren't going down any time soon.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.
