Depends on what you want it for. If you want to go fast for less...get the LS1. If your just looking for a cool car to ride around in...buy the one you like after driving each.

*edit* I just noticed you said to build it for mederate drag and 400 hp to run 11s. I would say LS1. You could get 410-440 rwhp with bolt ons, cam, and heads, and run deep deep 11s all motor.
Or even just bolt ons and cam and still run high 11s no problem.

My friend ran 11.60s 1/4 and 7.30s 1/8th with bolt-ons/cam/stall/gear.

To get a cobra in the 11's n/a you need traction. They don't have mph like ls1's do. Look at URFUCT's(WIL) car. He trapped 112 where I went the same et on nittos too but at 109(1.74 60ft) But yes I did have more bolt-ons than he did. Time in sig is with the stock longblock, all the bolt-ons and weight reduction. This winter I think I can hit 11's on slicks. Not too shabby with only 301rwhp if you ask me. I just wish I had the rwhp as LS1's do. Phuckers!

If you look at it dollar for dollar, mod for mod, the LS1 is always gonna give you more power because it has more displacement.

I forgot to notice this, he didn't say 98+ ws6/ss, he just said ws6/ss. If it was between an lt1 ss/ws6 and a 96-98 cobra, I'd take the cobra without hesitation.
