Default The End Is Near

Well, short of finishing my head work and getting it all bolted back together the end is near.

Since I had a chance to go into work and spend some time on the final parts clean up I decided to completely debur and clean my cases. Now I just need to run them through the cleaning tank one more time to get all my grubby fingerprints and debris off of them and they are ready to bolt back together.

I thought I would share the pics of what an aluminum engine case should look like after a lot of TLC.

I think some bare aluminum will look nice in contrast with my brushed stainless exhaust and bare magnesium fan.

Thanks man. And for his repeated helpfullness I promote kyle from rank of captain obvious to commander obvious.

But ANOTHER ride? I didn't think that you had been one of my passengers unless it was a ride along at an auto-x I have forgotten about.

I believe my ARP rod bolts should be in this week which will allow me to finish reconditioning my rods and put my short block together.

Once I get my $1500 check that is 'in the mail' I will then have the money for my new valves, springs and guides so I can finish working on the heads.

I am hoping that it should be an eleven or twelve second car when all is done and I have a set of 275/40-17 drag radials in the garage to help me find out.

Don't feel bad, my project is just a little past the one year point.

I was initially hoping it would only be about 6 months.

I guess one advantage of having such a long running project is that my project thread on the top BBS for P911 engine rebuilding is the most read thread next to the site owners sticky about his engine rebuilding book.

Just to put the above pics in perspective here are a couple before pics.

damn. looks way better. my car was together all mods in place we fired it up. ran like a champ sounded great so we took it around the block and as soon as i matted it oil started burning like smoke screen style. got back to the house and relized the rear main seal was either bad or incorrectly installed becaused we were all fucked up when we put the motor together. so now the prick needs to come back out. but i guess givin our state during assembly i am lucky nothing else is jacked up.....that i know of.
