i love my car, have never regreted buying it. as long as you take care of it and regularly maintain it then it will treat you well(its not horribly expensive). For example before 100k its recommended to change the thermostat ($40), thermostat housing ($2, radiator ($130 NAPA), and waterpump ($120).

cost of repairs really isnt that bad at all. and in bone stock form my car ran a 14.7 @94 (i have a 328is not m3), which i know isnt fast, but it gives half of these civics and cavaliers out there a run for their money.

you gotta remember though, these cars arent built for going in a straight line. theyre built to handle. they are excellent autox and road race cars.

so theres my opinion, theyre definately great cars. but like kris, im a bit bias myself.

 

My first car was my Dads old 1990 525i, 5 speed. He was the original owner, he/I put 273,000 miles on it before i had to say bye-bye, but it went 255k before its first engine rebuild (a valve stem broke), IMO thats pretty damn good considering it took a beating in New York winters etc. Yes, repairs can br pricy, but as long as you maintain the car it shouldnt be bad, as kyle said. Trust me, own a BMW then own any other car, and youll want the BMW back. I know I did.

get a new m3 2000 and up i think. they are def bad ass looking and are pretty quick

what the fuck? thats what you have to concider when you want a "performance car" the only major problem that they have is the water pump, from the factory they came with a water pump that had plastic fins in it, now they make them with metal fins in the water pump. AND you have to think your buying a european car, its not like buying parts for a chevy....your going to pay, but you have a nice looking car, that is some what quick and that handles like a bat out of hell. im sorry i would really have to disagree with you, fun over cost factor...wins with bmw's.

 

They may look bad ass and be fast as hell but they still cost $40K and I dont have that much. I'll make a deal with u if u buy it I'll drive it OK? And BTW its '01 and up.

 

so buy an 01 or just fix the other 2 cars
