Default How much torque?

Ever wonder how much torque you should torque that bolt down or why they have certain torque settings for heads and stuff like that.?

well anyway I found this good site that has listings on each bolt right down to threads per inch

You know what a useful chart would be for me? A standard-metric conversion. You know, like what size standard socket will work for what size metric, etc. I'm having no luck finding one on the internet.

I don't think there is a conversion because if you look at a 8 mm I think goes with a what 7/16 the 8 mm on a 7/16 bolt has some play in it and will over time strip the bolt
