What year did they stop using carbs on them?

yes, s10 were carbed back when they first came out.
the s10 model was first introduced by chevrolet replacing the isuzu built chevy luv pickup back in 1982 and they both had 2 barrel carbs all the way through the year 1985

then in 86 they introduced the tbi and the 4cylinder only put out like 90 horse power

that is what I remember I think i am right

That sounds about right, i was going to say mid 80s.
