what do rx-8's run in the 1/4?
one of my buddies has one. I'd say they are gorgeous, practical, and handle like monsters, but in a straight line they are nothing special-comparable with a mustang gt.

put it on a autox/road course against a 10 second mustang it the RX8 would RAPE it. it is all about what you are looking for. i know it is SO hard for the gitterdone ford owners on this board to realize this, but there is more to life than drag racing. it outran the TT rx7 in a road course (i think it was a road & track article).
if you want to go fast straight, buy a V8
if you want to drift, buy a 240
if you want to accelerate at high speeds, buy something w/ a turbo
if you want a car that handles like a beast and daily drives with comfort, buy an rx8

Here's my thoughts about the rx-8 ... it's ugly, makes no useful power for daily driving, costs too much and it's slow for what I would want from a car for that kind of money.
Good for the rx-8's ability on a road course, but let's face fact, 99% or less of these cars will ever be used at an auto x or road course. So where the rx-8 shines is not utilized by nearly all of the people who buy them.
So what does this car have that's useful for a typical driver, nearly nothing.

umm isnt this with most cars?
i like the rx-8 only thing i dont like about it is the tailights..god those things are ugly. But i think in due time with more and more people experimenting Turbo setups on this RENESIS motor..it will be a more respectable car in a straight line...
