What was your 60ft time silverstone .. that's the most important part. If you were 80+mph running 8.90's then your 60 must be pretty bad.

I just went through my truck, and wouldn't you know, that's the only timeslip from that day I don't have. I believe it was in the low 70's, I've got one motor pass slip but the car bogged down real bad and only went a 9.53, the mph on that one was 71.5, so I guess I little better that that, I do remember the 60' was 1.86. Now I've got to find that slip, it's bothering me.

if it was way off, NHRA wouldnt use it as their basis for requiring a helmet...do i need to scan the NHRA rulebook?

Well, nhra doesn't use it to guage what you may run in the 1/4 by looking at the 1/8th mile time.

It's for safety .. and high 8s in the 1/8th is hardly enough acceleration to be deemed dangerous where a helmet may be needed because most people running high 8s are only trapping right around 80, but that same high 8 second car in the 1/8th can get dangerous at roughly 100mph in the 1/4.

Damn, 81.5 in the 1/8th then only 97 in the 1/4? That thing must have been falling off big time at the far end of the track. 81.5 should be around 102-103 mph.
