ya...there really are alot of sick 4 cyl's, josh pointed out a good one in the B18C5, however, im gonna go with the F20 (or F22, whatever the one in the latest s2 is)...3S's are cool, and can make gobs of power, as do SR20's, but for some reason or other, the 4G just seems to have a small edge....BTW, James from orlando DSM went to the dyno challenge in daytona for the spring break gimmick, dyno'd 426 hp to the wheels in his 6 bolt with a completely blown head gasket and no nitrous....not bad!!

I think the B18C5 and B16B were both EXCELLENT for what they were made to do. From what i know of the SR it's awesome as well, same with the 3S.

I think this question is a bit too broad though, different engines do different things. You can't compare the ITR to the SR when speaking of brute power, one will far surpass, as you can't compare the two for road race, at least not to my knowledge. So are we looking at power, how fun they are to drive, road racing criteria, or longevity?

Ps. The 4G can suck my dick.

what bout the 2.4 liter turbo dodge motor lol...6 bolt 4g63 is a hell of a motor, along with the sr20,b18c5,b16 series...all very well do serve a purpose...b18/b16 series are mainly for road racing unless alot of money(not in all cases) are dumped into the motor(my .02) as the sr20 which can produce alot of power is more for the straights...look at launch..a damn near stock sr20 pullin 60 ft times in less than 2 secs and running 12's....and my motor falls between the lines somewhere...lol

uhh. yeah.

slap in some apexi 280 cams and rev them to 8500 with stock valve springs AND HLA !
now that i shut them up

the best four cylinder ever produced, its a tough one.
i'm going to say the toyota 20R/22R series of engine. been around forever. reliable as hell, runs forever, strong as all hell. and even began the import performance aftermarket craze waaay back.
