holes in bumper
o.k back in the late 50s the drag racer who ran in like super stock classes started doing it to reduce weight.and in the 60s when the factors got involved in drag racing they started even putting holes in the frames and putting aluminum hoods, fenders.bumpers, so thats how it all started they did it to.to reduce the drag on the cars..then around 64 they started to change the wheels postions and that how the funny car classes where born.......i figured i would give u guys a little history leason
and i have no cleu why people do it now all they have to do is pull the bumper off and then just put the cover back on the car so its diff. not for weight reasons

only useful reason that it could be used for is to get xtra air to help cool off the engine bay or help huge frount mounts on certain cars that arent suppose to have huge front mounts get the necessary air to the IC for it to do its job
other than that i do not see any reason as to why anyone would cut holes in there front bumper, and holes in the rear bumper is just plain retarded IMO

I can see the reason for the front bumper to have holes, but the rear? There was a white honda there with no rear bumper at all. I believe it pulled a wopping 17.5

fyi, cutting holes in the bumpers of cars produced during the 50s and 60s actually did reduce weight since those cars a) were tanks, and b) their bumpers themselves were huge and heavy, not the plastic 'dent-resistant' stuff you find on most cars today. they were sometimes chrome and bulky.
