Default 3rd Generation RX-7 reliability

I have heard many horrible things about the reliability of the 13BREW.

Is there truth in this? I see many peopel with rx-7's that have rebuilds every 40k miles.

I have heard the stock cooling system isn't up to par,and that is the weak link in the system? I would like some knowledge please.

3d gens are great cars, beautifully designed and fun to drive. The road to better reliability has been forged by those that have learned the hard way.

The turbo's are very complicated as well.

The cooling system is a weak link. It should be upgraded. By performing these mod's you can lengthen the life of a 13b-rew substantially, but it is still a boosted rotary engine, and likely will need to be rebuilt around 100k no matter what precautions you take.

Seals go boom, at least thats what I've heard. I was going to buy one for my first car, and I was advised against it from many angles by people citing things such as that. Still, I think they're quick little cars, I really enjoyed test-driving one. There have to be plenty of replacements to fix their problems by now, but
