Default help need advice

my dad recently passed away and my car was registered in his name.

i didnt get a chance for him to sign the title over to me before he left and i was wondering what i could do about this situation.

i dont want to do something that would be considered illegal but i dont mind bending the law either

would a lawyer be of service to me?

or does anyone have experience to contribute some advice?

Thanks

First, it depends on whether or not there was a will. If there was a will, the will has precendence.

Second, If there was no will, than depending on his "State of residency", ie, where he lived, it could go to Probate or possibly Community Property.

I do reccomend that you see a lawyer if there wasn't a will.....Probate is messy.

Ive been down to the probate office and you're right its not pretty

There was no will....the car was purchased for $100 on papers

sooo.. will the value of the car be dependent upon book value or purchase value?

know any lawyers who would deal with a situation like this?

sorry about your lost. How long ago was this? If it's not too long ago, maybe you can make the car a gift to someone else and somehow have his signature on there. Just make sure the date is before he passed away.
